Baklava boxes hold one of the stickiest sweets there is: layers of filo, nuts and butter soaked in syrup or honey. They pair grease-proof board or a lined tray with a gift-worthy outer, because baklava is often given at Eid, weddings and family visits. Pieces are usually packed in tight rows, sold by weight in assorted selections.

A gift box worthy of baklava.
Artwork and materialsThe lid and sides carry your festive design, while the syrup stays in a lined or lidded tray inside. Foil, pattern and colour matter most on a box bought to give. Our packaging guides cover sizing, materials, print, and cost in more depth.
Lid, sides and sleeve
We set your pattern and greeting across the lid and sides, or on a sleeve over a plainer box, and keep fine foil detail clear of the edges where a rigid wrap folds over.

Grease-proof coated board suits folding boxes, while rigid board with a lined tray makes a lift-off keepsake. Gold foil, embossing and a printed and varnished finish give the rich look festive gifting calls for.

Cost factorsEvery project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.
- Barrier
- Syrup needs a stronger grease barrier than most bakes, which costs more than plain board.
- Tray
- A lined or moulded inner tray is an extra part.
- Rigid or folding
- Rigid gift boxes cost more than folding cartons but are expected for festive gifting.
- Decoration
- Gold foil and embossing, common on festive boxes, each add a production step.
Choosing this format
Syrup is the problem to solve
Baklava keeps releasing syrup and butter, and plain board soaks it up and stains within hours.
Baklava is soaked after baking, and the syrup carries on draining for days. Uncoated board darkens, softens and can stick to the pastry. The usual answer is a barrier-coated board or a separate tray - foil, food-safe plastic or a lined card - so the syrup never reaches the outer box.
Leave the pieces to drain before packing. Packing straight from the tray puts the most syrup into the box.
- Coated board or separate tray
- Drain before packing
- Keep syrup off the outer box
Packing in rows
Baklava is packed tight in rows so pieces hold each other up, so size the box to whole rows.
Diamonds, squares, rolls and nests all pack differently. Lay out a full selection on a sheet, measure it and send us the size, and we build the box to it so there are no gaps for pieces to slide into and crush.
A gift as much as a sweet
Baklava is a traditional gift, so the outer box often matters as much as the inside.
For Eid, Ramadan, weddings and visits, baklava is often bought to give. That is why the trade uses rigid lift-off boxes, gold foil and decorative patterns, with the syrup-proof tray hidden inside.
Questions about baklava boxes.
Box style FAQsWe’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.
Read all frequently asked questionsHow many pieces of baklava fit in a 500g or 1kg box?+
That depends on your pieces, so we size the box from them. A small walnut diamond may weigh around 15g, while a large pistachio roll can be twice that or more. Weigh one row of your own pieces and send us the count and size, and we make the box so a full mix reaches the target weight without gaps.
Will a baklava box keep the pieces fresh?+
Yes, when the pieces sit in a lidded tray inside it. Baklava dries out in an open box, so we can pair the gift box with an inner tray that has a fitted lid or a film seal. Most baklava is kept at room temperature, so we also size the box to sit on a cupboard shelf rather than in the fridge.
Can baklava be posted as a gift?+
Yes. We recommend packing the pieces tightly in a sealed or lidded tray so the syrup cannot escape, then sending the gift box inside a shipping box with the gaps filled so it cannot tip. Syrup softens in hot weather, so a fast delivery service keeps the pieces looking their best when they arrive.
How is a baklava box different from a mithai or sweet box?+
A baklava box is usually packed by piece in tight rows on a tray, while a mithai box is filled by weight with mixed pieces in paper cups. Baklava also carries more syrup, so it needs a stronger barrier or a separate tray. Many sweet shops use the same outer design for both, and we can make it with a different insert for each.
Can a baklava gift box be reused or recycled?+
Yes. Rigid lift-off boxes are often kept and reused, which is why we keep the syrup in a separate tray so the outer stays clean. Once the tray is out, a paper-based box goes in with paper recycling. If recycling matters to you, we can finish the box with print and varnish rather than metallic paper or a plastic lining.
