BoxifyMEYour brand, just way more boxified

Noodle boxes are tall, tapered paperboard cartons with a coated inside, made to hold hot, saucy noodles without softening. Most have a wide mouth for chopsticks and a fold-down or interlocking top that keeps steam in on the way out. They are the box of street-food stalls, wok bars and delivery menus where the meal is eaten from the container itself.

What changes the price.

Cost factors

Every project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.

Barrier coating
Sauces and oil need a lining; heavier or plastic-free barriers cost more than a basic coating.
Capacity
Bigger portions use more board and a taller blank.
Print coverage
Full outside print costs more than a one-colour logo on kraft.
Closure style
Interlocking tops are a slightly more complex cut than a simple fold-over.
Buyer guidance

Choosing this format

Why noodle boxes are tall and tapered

The shape keeps a deep portion together and lets the box nest for storage.

Noodles tangle and settle, so a deep, narrow box holds a portion better than a flat tray. The taper - wider at the top - makes it easy to reach in with chopsticks or a fork, and lets empty boxes stack inside each other at the counter.

A wide base keeps it steady on a table or a car seat, which matters for a box people eat from rather than tip onto a plate.

  • Deep portion stays together
  • Wide mouth for eating
  • Nests when empty

Handling sauce, oil and steam

The inside coating is the part that decides whether the box survives a twenty-minute delivery.

Soy, curry and chilli oils soak into bare board fast. A coated inside keeps the walls firm and stops dark rings showing through the print. Water-based barrier coatings now do this job without a plastic film. Tell us your sauciest dish and we match the lining to that one.

Steam is the other problem. A fully sealed top traps it, and the noodles go soft. Many tops close with a small gap at the fold, which lets some steam out while keeping the heat in.

Portion first, then the box

Noodle boxes are usually sold by capacity, so start from the portion, not the dimensions.

Measure a full serving with its sauce and leave room at the top so the lid folds without pressing into the food. A side box and a main box in two sizes covers most menus.

Questions about noodle boxes.

Box style FAQs

We’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.

Read all frequently asked questions
Can noodle boxes go in the microwave?+

Yes, for a short warm-up with the top open, as our noodle boxes have no metal parts. If you plan to tell customers they can microwave the box, let us know and we confirm the board and coating suit it before production, so the advice you print is based on the box you receive. Short bursts are better than a long heat with steam trapped inside.

Which dishes suit a noodle box best?+

Noodles in a sauce, dry stir-fries, fried rice and rice bowls. The coated inside handles sauce and oil, and the wide mouth makes the box easy to eat from with chopsticks. A noodle box closes with folded flaps rather than a seal, so for soup noodles such as ramen we recommend a sealed bowl, with the broth packed apart from the noodles so they stay firm.

Is kraft or white board better for a noodle box?+

Both work, and we give each the same coated inside, so the choice is about the look. Kraft gives a natural finish and hides small oil marks, which suits busy street-food menus. White board shows colour print more sharply but also shows any mark that gets through. Choose the outside for your brand and leave the food side to the coating.

Can artwork run all the way around a noodle box?+

Yes. Because the walls taper, each one is a fan shape on the flat dieline rather than a rectangle, so straight bands and text have to follow that curve to look level once folded. We send you the dieline before you design, keep key text clear of the folds, and show the wrap-around on your digital proof before printing.

Are plastic-free noodle boxes recyclable?+

Yes. We can line noodle boxes with a water-based barrier coating instead of a plastic film, so the board goes in with paper recycling once the food is emptied out. The coating still holds back sauce and oil on the way to the customer. If you want a recycling note on the box, we can print it on a side panel.
