Choosing events & weddings packaging

Which box suits a wedding favour, an invitation or a bridal party gift?

Each piece of a wedding has its own job, so we match the box to it: Custom Favor Boxes for guest favours, Custom Invitation Boxes for a boxed suite, and Rigid Gift Boxes or Magnetic Closure Boxes for the bridal party.

Favours are small, light and given to every guest, so they suit a folding box that arrives flat and is filled by hand. Invitations go to each household and are often kept, so a shallow box that holds the cards in order makes sense. Gifts for bridesmaids, groomsmen and parents are fewer and more personal, and that is where a rigid box with a lift-off or magnetic lid earns its place.

Many couples use two or three of these together. Tell us every piece you are planning and we recommend a style for each, then design them as one set so the favours on the tables look like they belong with the invitations guests received months before.

  • Guest favours: Custom Favor Boxes or Custom Pillow Boxes
  • Boxed invitations: Custom Invitation Boxes
  • Bridal party gifts: Rigid Gift Boxes or Magnetic Closure Boxes

How do I work out how many favour boxes to order from my guest list?

Start from the confirmed guest count, then add a small margin for late additions and any box that gets creased while you fold it.

Decide first whether you are giving one favour per guest or one per couple or household. Per guest is the usual choice for sweets and small treats; per household suits a larger favour, such as a candle or a jar. Count the wedding party and any children you want to include, because they are easy to leave off a list.

We recommend ordering everything in one run rather than topping up later, so every box comes from the same print and the colour stays consistent. Spares stay flat and clean until you need them, and a leftover box or two makes a useful keepsake for the couple.

  • Choose per guest or per household first
  • Count the wedding party and children
  • Order in one run so every box matches

Can every favour box carry its own guest name?

Yes. We print your names, date and motif on every box, and add each guest's name with a printed tag or sticker, so the favour doubles as a place card.

One design runs across the whole order, which keeps the colour and layout the same from the first box to the last. Guest names change from box to box, so we put them on Custom Labels & Stickers or a paper tag tied through a ribbon hole, printed in the same fonts and colours as the box itself.

This also helps while the table plan is still moving. If a guest drops out or a seat changes, you reprint one tag rather than a box. Send us your guest list layout and the box artwork together, and we set the tags to sit cleanly on the panel or hang from the ribbon.

How do I match the packaging to my wedding colours and theme?

Send us the colour references from your invitations or stationery and we print every box to those colours, choosing a paper that suits the look of the day.

Your stationery is usually the first thing guests see, so we treat it as the reference for everything else. We match colour to a Pantone reference, check it on the digital proof, and keep the same fonts, monogram and motif across favours, invitation boxes and gift boxes.

The paper sets the theme as much as the ink. White board gives the truest colour for a bright or modern palette, kraft suits a rustic barn or garden wedding, and pearlescent or textured papers suit an evening or black-tie reception. A touch of Gold, Silver & Rose Gold Foiling on names, or Embossing & Debossing on a monogram, ties the set together without crowding a small box.

  • White board for the truest colour match
  • Kraft for rustic and garden themes
  • Foil or embossing on names and monograms

What makes a good bridesmaid or groomsman proposal box?

A proposal box holds a card and one or two small gifts, so we build it deeper than an invitation box and cut an insert that keeps each gift in its place when the lid comes off.

The card is the heart of the box, so we give it its own place on top or under the lid, where it is read first. Underneath, Die Cut Inserts hold the gifts apart: a piece of jewellery, a candle, a mini bottle, a hair clip for the bridesmaids, or cufflinks, a tie or a small bottle for the groomsmen. Printing the inside of the lid with a short line or the question itself makes the moment of opening part of the gift.

We make proposal boxes as Rigid Gift Boxes with a lift-off lid or as Magnetic Closure Boxes, wrapped to match your invitations. Many couples keep the same build and change only the wrap colour or the name on the lid for bridesmaids and groomsmen. Tell us what goes inside and we size the box and insert around it.

Can boxed invitations hold the whole suite and a small gift?

Yes. We size Custom Invitation Boxes around your exact cards and give the reply card, its envelope and any keepsake their own space in the insert.

A boxed invitation works best when nothing moves. We draw the insert so the main invitation sits on top, the details and reply cards sit in order beneath or beside it, and a small extra such as dried flowers, a sweet treat or a fabric swatch for the dress code has a cut space of its own.

For a larger guest list we can make the same design as a folding carton, and keep the rigid version for close family and the wedding party. Both carry the same wrap design, names and foil, so every guest receives something that clearly belongs to the same day.

What packaging works for birthdays, showers and other celebrations?

The same styles that suit weddings work for birthdays, baby showers, christenings, anniversaries and engagement parties - we change the design, the size and the finish to suit the occasion.

Custom Pillow Boxes suit flat or soft party favours and sit neatly on a plate. Custom Gable Boxes have a carry handle, so they suit sweets and treats that children take home. Custom Paper Bags work as party bags or as welcome bags for guests staying at a wedding venue, printed with the event name and filled with a few essentials for the weekend.

For treats from the day itself, Custom Cake Slice Boxes send guests home with a piece of the cake, and Custom Sweet Boxes suit mithai and other sweets given at weddings and festivals. Tell us the event and what each guest takes away, and we recommend the mix.

  • Pillow boxes for flat or soft favours
  • Gable boxes and paper bags for take-home treats
  • Cake slice boxes for a piece of the wedding cake

How do I fill and assemble favours and gifts before the day?

We deliver favour boxes flat, ready for you to fold and fill by hand, and make invitation and rigid gift boxes up in full, so they only need their contents.

Favour boxes fold without glue, with ribbon holes and tabs already cut. Most couples set aside an evening with family or the bridal party, fold in batches and fill on a production line: one person folds, one fills, one ties the ribbon or adds the tag. Leave food favours until close to the day and keep filled boxes in a single layer so the lids stay neat.

Give the venue or planner a simple note of where the favours go and how many are on each table. If you are posting proposal boxes or invitations, one of our Custom Mailer Boxes around it keeps the wrapped box clean on its way to the door.
