Churro boxes are long, narrow food boxes shaped around fried churros, usually served hot and dusted with sugar and cinnamon. They need grease resistance, a little ventilation so the churros stay crisp, and often a slot or compartment for a chocolate or caramel dip. Food trucks, markets, cafes and dessert bars are the main users.

Long sides, made for your brand.
Artwork and materialsThe long side panels face outwards as the box is held, so they carry the main design. On open boats the inside walls are seen too, and a mark near the dip end catches the eye. Our packaging guides cover sizing, materials, print, and cost in more depth.
Sides, inside and dip end
We set your design along the long side panels, keep text clear of the vent cut-outs and dip holder, and can print the inside walls of an open boat with a brand mark near the dip end.
Explore print and finishesSBS, kraft or boxboard
Grease-resistant SBS keeps colour bright against hot, sugared churros, kraft gives a street-food stall look and hides light marks, and coated folding boxboard suits a clean, bright design on tuck-top boxes.

Cost factorsEvery project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.
- Grease resistance
- Fried, sugared churros need coated board, which costs more than plain board.
- Dip holder
- A punched hole or folded cradle for a sauce pot adds die complexity.
- Length
- Long boxes for full-length churros use longer sheets of board.
- Full colour designs cost more than one colour on kraft.
Choosing this format
Shaped around the churro
Churros are long and thin, so the box is too - usually an open boat or a long tuck box sized for a set number.
Most churro boxes are sized for a portion of three to six full-length churros, with a shorter box for churro bites. The box should be long enough that the ends do not snap, and narrow enough that they do not roll about.
- Sized to a portion count
- Long enough for whole churros
- Open boat or closed tuck
Oil, sugar and staying crisp
Fresh churros are oily and steaming, so the board needs grease resistance and the box should not trap steam.
Fried dough marks uncoated board quickly, so churro boxes use coated or grease-resistant board on the inside. A fully closed box traps steam and softens the outside, which is why many are open-topped or have vent cut-outs.
Loose cinnamon sugar collects in the corners, so a clean fold without gaps helps keep it in the box rather than on the customer.
Room for the dip
Chocolate or caramel dip is part of the order, so many churro boxes hold a small pot at one end.
A die-cut hole or folded cradle at one end holds a round sauce pot upright, so it can be carried in one hand and dipped as you walk. Send us the exact pot you use and we size the hole to it, since pot sizes vary from one brand to the next.
Questions about churro boxes.
Box style FAQsWe’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.
Read all frequently asked questionsCan churro boxes hold filled churros or churro bites?+
Yes. Filled churros are thicker and heavier than plain ones, so we make their box with a wider channel and a stiffer board. Churro bites are short and loose and would roll about in a long box, so for those we make a shorter, deeper churro box that holds them together and is easy to eat from while walking.
Are churro boxes suitable for churros straight from the fryer?+
Yes. We give churro boxes a grease-resistant inside made for hot, oily food, and we confirm the board and coating are suitable for direct food contact before production. Letting the churros drain for a moment before boxing keeps oil off the print, so the box looks as good when it is handed over as when it was folded.
Will churros travel well in a delivery bag?+
Yes, in a closed tuck box with vent cut-outs, which keeps the sugar in and lets steam out so the churros stay crisp. An open churro boat is best for eating on the spot. For delivery, the dip should go in a sealed pot, and keeping the box flat and on top of the order stops the churros snapping.
Can churro boxes be used for other fried dough?+
Yes. Doughnut sticks, funnel cake strips, bunuelos and fried dough bites all need the same things: grease resistance, some venting and room for a sugar coating. We size the box to the treat, and round or wide treats such as funnel cake suit a wider open food tray better than a narrow churro box.
Where should printing go on a long churro box?+
On the long side panels, as they face outwards when the box is held, so we put your main design there. On an open boat the inside walls are seen too, and we can print inside with inks and a coating we confirm are suitable for food contact. A small brand mark near the dip end catches the eye as people dip.
