Does a supplement bottle, tub or pouch need a carton around it?
Not always, but we recommend one when the container is small, sits on a shelf beside other brands, or needs more room for wording than its label gives.
A capsule bottle or gummy jar has a curved label, and a shopper reads only one side of it at a time. Custom Folding Cartons give you four flat panels and two end flaps, so your brand, product name and panel text can all be read without turning the bottle round, and the container stays clean until it is opened.
We size the carton from your filled container with its cap on, including any shrink band or scoop under the lid. Bottles of the same capacity vary in height and shoulder shape, so send us the measurements of the exact container you fill. Measure a stand-up pouch filled and standing, because the gusset spreads once it holds powder. Large powder tubs usually sell on their own label, and we cover how they travel below.
- Bottles and jars: a tuck-end carton sized with the cap on
- Pouches: measured filled and standing up
- Large tubs: labelled, then boxed for shipping
How do you box sachets and stick packs?
We make a folding carton sized to the real stack of filled sachets or sticks, so every box closes cleanly at its full count and nothing slides about.
Filled sticks are thicker in the middle than at the sealed ends, so a stack is taller than the empty packs suggest. Send us the measurements of one filled pack and the number in each box, and we size the inside of the carton from a lightly pressed stack.
Sticks usually stand on end in a row, which suits a tall, narrow carton, while flat sachets lie in a stack in a shallower box. Where your customer takes one a day, one of our Flip Top Boxes opens and closes cleanly for the whole month, or we can add a perforated front panel so packs come out one at a time. A trial pack can share the same design at a smaller size.
Where do supplement facts, directions and warnings go on the box?
We give your supplement facts, directions and warnings their own panels before any branding is placed, and we set exactly the wording you supply.
Supplement packaging carries a lot of fixed text: the facts panel, how to take it, warnings, storage, your business details, a batch code and a date. On a tuck-end carton we usually keep the front for the brand, product name and pack count, and put the facts panel and the directions and warnings on the sides or back, so nothing is split across a fold or hidden in a glue flap.
We do not write or edit the wording on your panels. You send the final text, we lay it out exactly as supplied, and you approve it on the digital proof at full size before anything is printed. We recommend settling the text before artwork starts, and if batch numbers and dates are added on your packing line, we leave a clear, uncoated area for them.
- Front: brand, product name and pack count
- Sides and back: facts panel, directions and warnings
- A clear area for batch and date coding
Can a supplement box show it has not been opened?
Yes. We can build a tear strip into the carton, close it with a printed seal sticker, or make tamper-evident labels that break or leave a VOID pattern when peeled.
A tear strip is part of the carton, so the box has to be torn to open. A seal sticker across the tuck flap or a flip top lid does the same job. For bottles and tubs, Custom Labels & Stickers include seals made from a brittle film that breaks into small pieces when peeled, or from a material that leaves a VOID pattern behind, and they work across caps and lids as well as box flaps.
These features show your customer at a glance whether a pack has been opened, and we describe them only in those terms. If your product has to carry a particular kind of seal, tell us what is needed and we design the box and its seal around it, then show the placement on the proof.
Can one carton design cover every flavour and strength in a range?
Yes. We build one layout for the whole range and change only what differs, such as the flavour name, a colour band and the facts panel.
Supplement ranges grow sideways: a new flavour, a bigger pack, a stronger version. When every carton shares the same grid, type and logo position, a shopper sees one brand and finds their flavour by colour. We set the shared parts once, so a new flavour is a new file rather than a new design.
Reorders matter as much as the first run, because customers notice when this month's pack looks a shade different from last month's. Send us your Pantone references and we print to them, and we keep a record of your colours so each run matches the last.
- One grid, type and logo position for every product
- A colour band and name for each flavour or strength
- Pantone references kept for every reorder
Which labels suit supplement bottles, tubs and pouches?
We choose the label for the surface and how it is handled: paper for dry bottles kept in a cupboard, durable film for tubs and pouches that get scooped from, squeezed or wiped.
Powder tubs are opened with damp hands and wiped down, so a film label keeps its print and edges. For a container that narrows towards the base or neck, we draw a curved label from its top and bottom diameters and its height, so it wraps smoothly with no wrinkles. We can also leave a blank panel for your date coder to fill in.
If you label by machine, tell us the core size and unwind direction your applicator needs and we wind the rolls to match. For small batches or a new flavour, sheets are easier to apply by hand.
What packaging suits a supplement subscription or refill pack?
We pair a keepable outer box with a refill your customer tops it up from, or send each month's supply in a mailer sized to it.
Flip Top Boxes suit refills, because your customer keeps the box and tops it up from a refill pouch. We recommend rigid board or a strong paperboard with a durable catch so the lid keeps closing neatly, and we make the opening wide enough to pour a refill in easily.
For posted plans, Custom Subscription Boxes and Custom Mailer Boxes are sized around a month's supply, whether that is one pouch or a bottle and a box of sticks. A slim mailer can be made to go through a letterbox when the refill is a flat pouch. Many brands keep the outside plain and print the design inside the lid, so the box looks discreet on a doorstep.
Will heavy protein and powder tubs arrive safely in the post?
Yes. We make Custom Shipping Boxes sized closely to your tubs, in single or double-wall corrugated board for the weight, so they cannot shift on the way.
Powder tubs are heavy for their size, and a tub loose in a box puts its weight on the lid and corners. We size the box to the tub with its lid on, and for orders of two or more we add a corrugated insert that gives each tub its own cell, so they stay upright and apart. Heavier bundles and wholesale cases suit double-wall board.
If you also sell to shops, we can make plain outer cases sized to your pallet footprint, alongside Custom Display Boxes that hold smaller packs at the counter.
- Boxes sized to the tub with its lid on
- A corrugated cell for each tub in a bundle
- Double-wall board for big orders
