Perfume boxes range from printed folding cartons for everyday fragrance to rigid boxes with magnetic lids and fitted inserts for premium launches. Fragrance bottles are heavy, often irregular in shape, and have a sprayer that must not be pressed in transit, so the insert matters as much as the outside. The box is also a big part of how a scent is presented, which is why fragrance uses more foil, embossing and specialty paper than most beauty products.

Set the scene for the scent.
Artwork and materialsA perfume box is a large part of how a scent is presented, so we plan the outside, the inside lid and the insert as one design. Our packaging guides cover sizing, materials, print, and cost in more depth.
Outside, inside and insert
We set the artwork across the carton or rigid wrap, add a colour flood or scent line inside the lid if you want one, and shape the insert so the bottle is framed when it opens.
Explore print and finishesSpecialty papers and foil
Paperboard cartons take foil and embossing well for everyday fragrance, greyboard wrapped in specialty paper gives a launch box real weight, and board, pulp or foam inserts each change how the bottle sits.

Cost factorsEvery project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.
- Build
- A folding carton is the most economical; a wrapped rigid box with a magnetic lid costs much more.
- Insert
- Inserts shaped to an irregular bottle need their own tooling, and foam or moulded pulp adds cost.
- Paper and finishes
- Specialty papers, foil, embossing and soft-touch are common on fragrance and each add cost.
- Sets
- Gift sets with a bottle, a mini and a lotion need a multi-cavity insert.
Choosing this format
Fitting an irregular bottle
Perfume bottles come in every shape, so the insert is cut to the bottle rather than the box to the bottle.
A rectangular box holds a square bottle easily, but round, faceted or sculpted bottles need an insert that grips the shape. Board inserts with a die-cut aperture suit simple shapes; moulded pulp or foam holds complex ones.
Send us the bottle's measurements with its cap on, and point out any parts that stick out, such as a collar or a decorative cap, so we keep the weight off them.
- Insert follows the bottle shape
- Pulp or foam for complex shapes
- Protect the cap and collar
Protecting the sprayer
A sprayer pressed in transit leaks, so the cap and sprayer must not touch the top panel.
Leave clearance above the cap, or hold the bottle by its shoulders or base so it cannot slide up into the lid. For bottles without a cap, the insert can surround the sprayer so nothing presses on it.
Glass fragrance bottles are heavy. The box protects them on a shelf; for delivery, the boxed bottle still needs an outer shipping box with cushioning.
Everyday carton or launch box?
Cartons suit everyday fragrance and refills; rigid boxes suit launches, gifting and premium lines.
A printed SBS carton, often with an insert and a cello wrap, is the classic fragrance pack. It is light, stacks flat and takes foil and embossing well.
A rigid box with a magnetic or two-piece lid feels heavier and is often kept after the bottle is used. It is bulkier to store and ship, so many brands use it only for the hero size or gift sets.
Allergens, volume and alcohol content
Fragrance ingredients, allergens and alcohol content often sit on the outer pack, so the text runs longer than expected.
A fragrance pack often names individual allergens as well as the volume and the full ingredient list. Alcohol-based perfumes are also flammable, which can limit how they travel. We set that text on a back or base panel, and you read every line on the digital proof before printing.
Questions about perfume boxes.
Box style FAQsWe’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.
Read all frequently asked questionsDo perfume boxes need a cellophane wrap?+
No, it is a choice. Many fragrance brands cello-wrap their filled cartons so buyers can see the box has not been opened or sampled. If you would rather avoid plastic, we can make a paper seal or a tamper sticker that goes across the opening flap and shows the same thing. For shelf scuffs, we can give the carton a protective lamination instead.
What kind of box suits a perfume oil or attar bottle?+
We usually present attar and perfume oil bottles lying down in a lined rigid box, with a cut-out that holds the stopper so it cannot work loose. The bottles are small and often decorative glass with a long stopper or a roller, so the box is small but the insert does most of the work. Send us the bottle's measurements with the stopper in and we size the cavity around it.
Can you package perfume samples and mini sprays?+
Yes. We hold single vials on a printed card or in a small sleeve, and make discovery sets that line several minis up in one box with a slot for each. The minis are light, so the insert is there for a neat layout more than protection. Sample vials of different scents look the same, so we print each scent name beside its slot.
Can you make a matching box for a perfume refill?+
Yes. A refill carton is usually simpler than the main box, often without a heavy insert, because the buyer already owns the presentation bottle. We keep it in the same design family as the original, with the same artwork and colours, so it is easy to match on the shelf and still feels part of the brand.
Can you print inside a perfume box?+
Yes. We can print a colour flood, a pattern or a short line about the scent on the inside of the lid or carton, which is the first thing seen when the bottle comes out. It is an extra print pass, so many brands keep it for the hero size and gift sets and leave everyday cartons plain inside.
