Eyeliner boxes are slim tuck-end cartons sized to a pencil, a felt-tip pen or a liquid liner with its brush cap. The narrow shape gives little face to print on, so the design leans on the long side panels and a strong colour block. Many are made to hang from a hook or stand in a counter display, and gel liners in small pots take a short square carton instead.

Make a slim liner easy to pick.
Artwork and materialsEyeliner cartons have a narrow front, so the long side panels and a strong colour block carry the shade, the brand and the directions. Our packaging guides cover sizing, materials, print, and cost in more depth.
Long sides and hang tab
We run the product name up the long side panels, set a shade swatch or colour block where a row of cartons shows it, and plan any hang tab into the artwork from the start.
Explore print and finishesWhite, recycled or kraft
Plain paperboard gives the brightest colour for shade swatches, recycled board gives a softer finish, and kraft board brings a natural look where the colour block and type are printed bold.

Cost factorsEvery project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.
- Quantity
- Slim cartons fit many to a sheet, so larger runs bring the cost per box down quickly.
- Hang tab
- A die-cut hang tab or euro-slot adds board to the sheet layout.
- Print coverage
- Full colour on all panels costs more than one or two colours on the front.
- Finishes
- Foil on a narrow panel needs fine tooling; each finish adds a step.
Choosing this format
Sizing for pencils, pens and liquid liners
Measure the full length with the cap on, and the widest point, which is usually the cap or the clip.
A pencil liner is almost uniform, but a liquid liner often has a wider cap and a brush that must not be pressed. Measure the longest and widest point, then allow a little clearance so the liner slides in without catching on the tuck flap.
If a sharpener or a smudger end comes in the same box, check that the extra part does not push the liner off-centre.
- Measure with the cap on
- Widest point is often the cap
- Allow slide-in clearance
Hanging, standing or both
Eyeliners are often sold on hooks, so decide early whether the carton needs a hang tab.
A hang tab is a flap at the top with a die-cut hole or euro-slot. It extends the carton and changes how the artwork is laid out, so it is easier to plan from the start than to add later.
Cartons that stand on a counter need a flat, square base. A crash-lock base is rarely needed for something this light; a simple tuck at each end usually holds.
Designing for a narrow front
With a front panel barely wider than a finger, the shade name and brand need to be readable at arm's length.
Long side panels carry more than the front: product name running vertically, shade swatch, and directions. A colour block or swatch that matches the liner shade helps shoppers pick from a row of identical shapes.
Ingredient lists and warnings for eye products can be long, so tell us what the carton must carry and we set it on the dieline before the size is fixed, letting you see on the proof that it reads comfortably.
Questions about eyeliner boxes.
Box style FAQsWe’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.
Read all frequently asked questionsWhat box suits a gel eyeliner pot with a brush?+
A gel liner pot is short and round, so we make it a small square carton rather than a long liner box. If an angled brush comes with it, we make a longer carton with a card insert that holds the pot at one end and the brush along the side, keeping the tip free. Measure the pot with its lid closed, as gel liner lids are often wider than the jar.
Can the carton keep a liquid eyeliner the right way up?+
Yes. Some liquid and felt-tip liners are best kept tip-down or flat so the ink stays near the nib. Tell us how your pen should be stored and we design the carton to stand, hang or lie that way, mark the fill direction on the dieline so it is packed the right way round, and can print a storage arrow on the pack.
Can an eyeliner carton be kraft or recycled board?+
Yes. Eyeliner is light and small, so we can make the carton from kraft or recycled board without it losing strength. Shade swatches print less true on brown kraft, so we can print the swatch on a white patch or let the shade name do the work. Recycled white board keeps colours truer while still using recycled fibre.
Should eyeliner come in a carton or a blister card?+
We recommend a carton. It is all paper, takes print on every panel and can hang from a peg with a hang tab. A blister card shows the pencil through a plastic bubble, but it mixes plastic with card and is harder to recycle. If you want shoppers to see the shade, we can add a small window or print a swatch on the front.
