BoxifyMEYour brand, just way more boxified

Lip balm boxes cover three jobs: a single carton around one stick or tin, a multi-pack that holds a set of flavours, and a counter display that sells them loose at the till. Because the product is so small, the box is often doing more to sell it than the tube is, and the main challenge is finding room for the required text on very little board. Inserts with punched holes keep sticks upright and in order.

What changes the price.

Cost factors

Every project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.

Format
A single carton is simplest; a multi-pack or display box with an insert has more parts and more folding.
Tiny size
Very small cartons are fiddly to fold and glue, which can make per-box assembly slower.
Hang tab
A peg-hole header adds board height and a punched hole to the cutting tool.
Flavour versions
Each flavour with its own artwork is a separate print plate or file to manage.

Choosing this format

Single, multi-pack or display?

Decide where the balm will be sold first: on a peg, in a gift set, or loose on a counter.

A single carton suits a premium stick sold on a shelf, where the box makes a small product look worth its price. A multi-pack holds three to six sticks in a row and is popular for flavour sets and gifts.

A counter display box opens into a tray with a raised header and holds a dozen or more loose sticks, each with its own label. It is the format for impulse sales at the till.

  • Single carton for shelf
  • Multi-pack for sets
  • Display tray for the till

Holding a stick upright

A punched board insert with a hole per stick keeps them standing, spaced and easy to lift out.

Lip balm sticks are light and roll easily, so a flat box lets them slide to one corner. A raised board deck with round holes holds each one upright with the cap showing; send us the stick diameter and we size every hole just over it.

Tins and flat pots are different: they sit in a shallow recess or a card well instead, so they do not tip over when the box is opened.

Fitting the text on a tiny carton

With panels a few centimetres across, the required text competes with the brand for every millimetre.

A single lip balm carton might have side panels only a little wider than a thumb. Ingredients, net weight and any warnings still have to fit, so many brands use a fold-out or a back panel kept just for text.

Keeping that text at a readable size can rule out some layouts on a box this small, so set the text panel first and fit the design around it. On a multi-pack, the outer box can often carry the full information for the set.

Box style FAQs

We’ll confirm the exact details that apply to your structure and volume.

Read all frequently asked questions
What size box does a standard lip balm stick need?+

We size every lip balm box to your own tube, because sticks vary between makers. Many are a little over 1.5 cm across and around 7 cm tall. Measure yours with the cap on and send us the figures, and we allow a millimetre or so of clearance on the width and a little more on the height. For a multi-pack, we also set the gap between sticks, since the insert holes decide the box length.

Can lip balm packaging be kraft and plastic-free?+

Yes. We can make a kraft carton or a paperboard multi-pack with a board insert, with no plastic at all, and paper push-up tubes suit a round-hole insert or a simple sleeve. Kraft takes dark inks best, so pale colours and fine white text can look weak. We show you how the ingredient panel will read on the proof before anything is printed.

How is a lip balm counter display shipped and set up?+

We make lip balm counter displays that travel as a closed carton with the sticks already inside. At the shop, the lid folds back or tears away along a perforation to form the raised header, so staff only have to open it and stand it on the counter. We score the header fold so it stays up, and size the insert so the sticks cannot tip over in transit.

Can you make a box for lip balm tins?+

Yes. We make cartons for lip balm tins, which earn their place when the tin label is too small for the full ingredient list, when tins are sold as a gift set, or when the lids need protecting from scratches. A printed sleeve that wraps around the tin is a lighter option than a full carton and still gives you room for your branding and product details.
