BoxifyMEYour brand, just way more boxified

Makeup boxes cover the flat and multi-item side of beauty: thin palettes that slide into a sleeve or carton, gift sets that hold several products in one insert, and PR kits sent to creators where the unboxing is filmed. Each needs a different build, from a slim printed carton to a rigid magnetic box with a fitted tray. The common thread is a precise insert, since makeup sets mix shapes that all need their own place.

What changes the price.

Cost factors

Every project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.

Build
A flat palette sleeve is the simplest; a rigid magnetic PR box is many times more material and labour.
Insert cavities
Each different product shape in a set needs its own cut-out, and complex inserts take longer to make.
Finishes
Foil, holographic board and soft-touch are common in makeup and each adds a production step.
Kit assembly
PR kits with cards, ribbons and several products take more time to pack by hand.

Choosing this format

Palette packaging

A palette is thin and flat, so its box is usually a slim sleeve or a shallow tuck carton.

Eyeshadow and blush palettes are often only a centimetre or two deep, with a hinged lid and a mirror. A printed sleeve that slides over the palette shows off the design and adds little bulk; a shallow carton gives more protection and more room for text.

Pressed powder can crack if a palette is dropped flat, so a snug fit with no movement matters more than extra padding.

Inserts for mixed sets

A set of a palette, a mascara and a lip product needs one insert cut to three different shapes.

Measure every item in the set with caps on, and decide how they should lie: tubes flat, a palette face up, brushes along one edge. We cut the insert to those outlines so each piece sits in its own well, and you see every well on the dieline before anything is made.

Card inserts are light and recyclable, foam holds odd shapes tightly, and moulded pulp suits heavier items. Leave a finger notch beside each piece so it lifts out cleanly.

Building a PR kit

A PR kit is opened on camera, so the order things appear in matters as much as the box.

Most PR kits use a rigid or magnetic box with a printed inside lid, a top layer with a card or message, and the products set in a fitted tray below. The lid reveal and the first thing seen are planned like a short story.

Kits travel by courier, so they still need a shipping carton outside. A plain mailer box keeps the presentation box clean for the moment it is opened.

Read all frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a makeup box and an eyeshadow box?+

An eyeshadow box is built around one palette, usually as a slim carton or sleeve. A makeup box covers the wider jobs: gift sets mixing a palette, a mascara and a lip product, holiday editions, and PR kits with several items in a fitted tray. For a single palette we recommend an eyeshadow box; once the box holds different products, we make a makeup set box fitted to each item.

Can a makeup set box be reused by the customer?+

Yes, especially a rigid box with a magnetic lid, which customers often keep for brushes or small products. That is part of why brands choose it for sets and PR kits. We can make the insert lift out, so the empty box becomes a plain storage tray, and print the inside of the lid so it looks good every time it opens.

What finishes suit a makeup gift set box?+

For gift sets we often recommend soft-touch lamination with foil on the logo, which feels rich in the hand and catches the light on a shelf. Embossing adds texture, and a printed lid lining gives a reveal when the box opens. Tell us the look you want and we show the finishes together on the proof.

How are makeup brushes held in a set box?+

We cut a long slot in the insert for each brush, shaped to the handle, so the head sits clear of any pressure and the bristles keep their shape. Powder products get their own wells away from the brushes, so loose powder stays out of the bristles. Send us the brush lengths and product sizes and we lay out the insert around the full set.
