What does home & gifts packaging need to do?

Designed for the market

Home and gift products vary widely in shape and fragility, so the structure must protect without losing the reveal.

Boxifyme connects those requirements to the structure, material, printing method, and finish so every choice has a clear job.

Choosing home & gifts packaging

Which box suits a jar candle, a tin or a pillar candle?

We match the build to the format: a carton or rigid box with a fitted insert for a glass jar, a printed band or cover for a tin, and a close-fitting carton or round box for a pillar candle.

A filled jar is usually the heaviest piece in a candle range, so we make Custom Candle Boxes for jars with a reinforced base and an insert that keeps the glass centred and off the walls, moving up to a rigid box for gifts and large multi-wick vessels. A tin has its own lid and travels well, so a printed band is often all it needs, with one of our Custom Candle Covers on the wax under the lid and a full carton kept for gift sets of several tins.

A pillar candle has no vessel, so the box is the only thing around the wax. We size the carton closely so the pillar stands upright and cannot roll, and for round pillars we recommend Custom Round Boxes, which follow the curve. If the colour of the wax is part of the appeal, a film window shows it on the shelf.

  • Jar: a reinforced base and a centring insert
  • Tin: a printed band, with a dust cover on the wax
  • Pillar: a close-fitting carton or round tube

How do you hold ceramics and glass still inside a gift box?

We cut an insert that holds the piece by its body and base, its strongest points, so handles, spouts and rims sit in clear space.

Mugs, vases, carafes and glassware each have a delicate edge, usually the rim, the handle or a narrow neck. We shape each cavity to grip the main body and leave room around the parts that stick out, so a mug's handle has its own channel and a vase's lip stays clear of the lid. We recommend Foam Inserts for glass and fine ceramics, because foam grips curved surfaces closely and cushions every side, and Corrugated Inserts for heavier stoneware.

Handmade pieces are rarely identical. Measure several from the same batch and send us the largest, and we cut the cavities to that size so every piece in the run fits. Sets of glasses or plates get one cavity each, so glass never touches glass, with a finger notch beside each piece to lift it out.

  • Grip the body and base, keep handles and rims clear
  • Foam for glass and fine ceramics
  • Cavities sized to the largest piece in the batch

Can you make boxes for odd shapes such as vases, diffusers and sculptural décor?

Yes. We size the outer box to the piece's widest and tallest points and let the insert do the shaping, so an awkward outline sits as neatly as a square one.

A bud vase is tall and narrow, a sculpture leans to one side, and a diffuser is a bottle with a bundle of reeds. Rather than an unusual box for each, we keep the outer box a simple rectangle or tube and put the shape into the insert: a foam cavity traced to the outline, one of our Die Cut Inserts cradling the neck and the base, or a collar that holds a tall piece upright.

Tall pieces can also lie down. A long vase sits on its side in a two-piece rigid box or one of our Magnetic Closure Boxes, where it shows along its full length, and Custom Bottle Gift Boxes hold bottled gifts upright or lying down. For round, oval or heart-shaped gifts, we make Custom Round Boxes in those shapes. Tell us which side you want seen first, and we set it facing up.

How do you package a gift set with several different items?

We give every item its own cavity, shaped to that item, and plan the layout so the heavier pieces sit low and central and the whole set shows as the box opens.

Home gift sets mix things that behave very differently: a candle and a ceramic dish, a mug and a bag of coffee, a soap and a linen napkin. Glass and ceramic go into fitted cavities, soft or flat items lie in a shallow recess, and a small accessory such as a wick trimmer gets a slot of its own.

Larger sets can have two layers, with a top tray that lifts out to reveal the second. Rigid Gift Boxes and Magnetic Closure Boxes are the usual homes for a set given as a present, and a printed card on top of the insert can carry a gift message or care notes. If the contents change with the seasons, we keep the outer box the same and change only the insert.

  • One cavity per item, shaped to that item
  • Heavy pieces low and central
  • New contents, new insert, same outer box

How do candles and ceramic gifts travel to your customer?

In two layers: your printed box and its insert hold the piece still, and one of our Custom Shipping Boxes, made to fit around it, carries it through the post.

The candle box or gift box presents the product and keeps it in place, while the shipping box takes the sorting belts and the van. We size the shipping box to the printed box rather than to the product, so it sits snugly with only a little paper fill around it, and heavier glass and stoneware move up to double wall board.

Orders of several candles travel best with corrugated dividers that give each jar its own cell, and the same build carries cases of boxed candles to the shops that stock you, so every retail box reaches the shelf unmarked. When an order goes straight to the person receiving the present, the finished box inside means they open a gift ready to give, not a parcel to wrap.

  • Printed box inside, shipping box outside
  • Dividers give each jar its own cell
  • Double wall for heavy glass and stoneware

How do I make a range of candles and gifts look like one collection?

We keep the structure, layout and finishes the same across your range and change one element per product, usually a colour, the scent name or a pattern, so each piece stands apart and the shelf reads as one family.

A candle range can run to a dozen scents in two or three sizes. We set your logo, the scent name and the burn instructions in the same places on every box, then give each scent its own colour or illustration. Send us your Pantone references and we print to them, so a scent's colour matches across its box, its candle cover and its label.

Two builds make a range easy to grow. Custom Sleeve Boxes put a printed sleeve over one shared tray, so each scent or season gets its own sleeve on the same structure. A plain box with a printed label from our Custom Labels & Stickers range lets one stock of boxes serve every product. We send a digital proof for every scent, so you can check the whole collection before anything is printed.

What should I measure before ordering a candle or gift box?

Tell us what the product is, its size and weight, and how it reaches your customer, and we work out the box and insert from there.

Measure the piece at its widest and tallest points with any lid, handle or stopper in place, and for a candle measure the vessel, not the wax. Weight matters as much as size: a filled jar or a stoneware bowl is heavier than it looks, and it decides the base, the board and the insert. Tell us the material too, because glass, ceramic, wax and wood are each held a little differently.

Then tell us how it is sold: on a shop shelf, ordered online and sent as a gift, or in cases to a stockist. Let us know whether it ships alone or with other items, which way up it sits and what the box must carry, such as burn instructions or care notes. We draw the box and insert around those details and send you the dieline and a digital proof, so you can check the fit before production.

  • Widest and tallest points, lid and handle included
