BoxifyMEYour brand, just way more boxified

Premium rigid boxes are rigid boxes taken to their most finished: thicker board, specialty or textured wrap papers, foil and embossing, lined interiors and fitted inserts. They are the box for launches, limited editions and products where the packaging is part of the price - jewellery, fragrance, spirits and high-end gifts.

What changes the price.

Cost factors

Every project is quoted individually. These are the choices that move the price on almost every order.

Paper and lining
Specialty, textured and soft-touch papers and fabric linings cost more than plain printed paper.
Decoration
Each foil colour, emboss or deboss needs its own die and its own pass through production.
Inserts
A fitted, wrapped or flocked insert is made as a second part, often by hand.
Quantity
Tooling for each finish is a set-up cost, so it adds more to each box on small runs.
Buyer guidance

Choosing this format

What makes a rigid box premium?

The materials and the finishing, not the structure: the same rigid box, made with richer paper, more decoration and a finished interior.

A standard rigid box is greyboard wrapped in printed paper. A premium one usually adds a specialty or textured wrap, foil or embossing on the lid, a lined inside and an insert that holds the product like jewellery in a case.

None of these is required on its own; the premium feel comes from combining two or three with restraint.

  • Specialty or textured wrap
  • Foil, emboss or deboss
  • Lined, fitted interior

Choosing papers and textures

Texture is felt before it is seen, so choose the paper for the hand as much as the eye.

Linen and felt-textured papers feel crafted and hide small marks. Soft-touch papers feel velvety and make dark colours look deep. Smooth coated papers show photography and fine print most clearly, but show scuffs more.

Dark papers with a single foil detail are a classic luxury look; pale papers with blind embossing read as quiet and modern.

Decoration without clutter

One hero finish, used in one place, usually looks more expensive than several finishes everywhere.

Foil a logo, emboss a monogram, or spot-gloss a pattern - but pick one to lead. Foil pressed into an embossed logo is a classic pairing because it is seen and felt at once.

Keep decoration away from folds and edges, where foil can crack and embossing can flatten. We plan each finish as its own layer on the dieline, so the digital proof shows exactly where the foil or emboss will sit.

Premium or standard rigid box?

Premium suits a box that is kept, gifted or displayed; a standard rigid box suits a product whose box is opened and put aside.

Every extra finish is cost that should be seen and felt. When the box is thrown away in seconds, or the product is low in price, a well-printed standard rigid box or a mailer with inside print often gives a better result for the money. Tell us how the box will be used and we suggest where a finish earns its place.

Read all frequently asked questions
Which decoration works best on textured or soft-touch papers?+

Embossing and debossing suit most textured papers, because the texture makes the raised shape catch the light. We also foil textured papers, keeping the foiled detail bold, since deep linen or felt textures can break up fine lines and small text. Soft-touch papers take foil and blind deboss cleanly and make metallic foils stand out. Tell us the look you want and we pair the paper and finish to suit.

Which papers keep a dark premium rigid box looking clean?+

Textured and linen papers are the best choice for a dark box, because their surface hides small scuffs and fingerprints. Dark smooth papers look striking but show every mark. Soft-touch feels rich, though it can polish slightly where it is rubbed on the lid edges. For posted orders, we recommend packing each box in tissue inside a shipping box, so it arrives exactly as it left.

Velvet, satin or flock: which lining suits a premium rigid box?+

Choose by the product. Velvet and flock feel soft, stop small items like rings and watches sliding, and hide light marks. Satin looks glossy and suits fragrance and spirits, though it shows fingerprints more easily. A paper lining in a matching or contrasting colour is a quieter choice that is easier to recycle. Tell us your product and wrap colour and we recommend the lining that suits both.

Can a premium rigid box be matched to our brand colours?+

Yes. We match printed areas to your brand colours, using Pantone inks where an exact match matters, and choose a wrap paper as close to your colour as the range allows. Specialty papers are dyed rather than printed, so if a paper sits slightly off your colour we tell you before production and suggest the nearest paper or a printed wrap instead.

Can a premium rigid box with foil and a fabric lining be recycled?+

The main parts can. The greyboard and paper wrap go in with paper recycling, and a small foil detail is usually fine. Fabric linings, flocking, soft-touch laminates and foam inserts are harder, because they are bonded on or made of other materials. If recycling matters to you, we can make the box with a paper lining and board inserts. Many customers keep premium boxes rather than throw them away.
